40 HOURS OF INSTRUMENT FLYING TOTAL |
The instrument rating allows you to fly an aircraft in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC). It teaches you how to properly read and trust your instruments, flying without reference to the horizon or the ground. This rating is required for pilots who wish to work at the airline level. You will start by learning the basic instrument flying skills in one of our FTDs. Once you have acquired and demonstrated the necessary skill level, you will progress to the aircraft, either in a Cessna 172 (group 3 instrument rating) or the Aztec (group 1 instrument rating). It should be noted that most airline companies require that the pilot hold a valid group 1 instrument rating.
