To obtain a private license, the aspiring pilot must satisfy the following Transport Canada minimum requirements: provide a valid medical certificate, complete at least 40 hours of ground school training, 45 hours of flight training, a written examination, and a flight test.

The commercial pilot license is required to fly professionally. The candidate must first hold a private pilot license and then complete an intensive flight program of 35 hours dual, 30 hours solo training. The student must accumulate 200 flight hours, of which 100 must be solo. A 40-hour theory course is also required, followed by both a written and a flight test.
